Mining and Mineral Resources

Mining and Mineral Resources

About

The Philippines is estimated to have $1.4 trillion in untapped mineral deposits like copper, gold, nickel, zinc, and silver. Its mining reserves covering an estimated 9 million hectares has been ranked the fifth largest in the world—this reflects the industry’s very high potential for growth. Finding a balance between a stable economy and a healthy environment is an important component in utilizing the country’s mineral resources. It is within this context that the committee provides leadership on issues relating to the exploration and development, conservation, management and utilization of mines and mineral resources.
