Palm Concepcion unit starts construction of Iloilo solar project
PALM Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC) said Tuesday that its renewable energy affiliate, Joy~Nostalg Solaris Inc., had started construction of a 62.0-megawatt-peak solar plant in Ajuy, Iloilo.
PCPC was said to have signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract with China Energy Engineering Group's Northeast No. 1 Electric Power Construction Co. Ltd. for the development, which is expected to be finished by the end of this year.
PCPC said that once completed, the plant would generate 94.32 gigawatt hours of clean and renewable energy per year for over 25,000 homes.
It also supports the Department of Energy's target to achieve a 35-percent renewable energy share of overall power production by 2030 and is expected to improve the power supply situation in Panay Island.
PCPC is a business unit of listed firm A Brown Co. Inc., whose share price slipped by a centavo to P0.56 on Tuesday.
